Miami, FL - May 9, 2022 - After the announcement in September 2021 by BrokerTech Ventures (BTV) of our LATAM Partnership, today is the official launch of The LATAM Insurtech Accelerator (LATAMIA), fueled by BrokerTech Ventures.
LATAMIA has been formed by Pablo Duarte and Hilario Itriago, together bringing more than 20 years of experience each in the insurance and insurtech industry, and will be managed by Pablo Tiscornia, one of the most experienced and successful operators of acceleration programs in the Region. Using the guidance of the BTV accelerator program and members from the BTV leadership team, LATAMIA hopes to maximize emerging technologies for insurance organizations through tailored input centered on specific business issues.
“The time is right for LATAMIA to launch as the number of insurtechs in the Region have reached an all time high, and while the level of investment in them has also grown, it still has much to improve in order to bridge the gap with more mature regions such as the US and Europe, said Hilario Itriago, Chairman of The LATAM Insurtech Accelerator. “Through our Accelerator we also want to contribute to the speed at which our Regional insurtech ecosystem collaborates and cooperates with incumbents, an area of opportunity with enormous positive consequences for insurance penetration and protection for Latin Americans”.
“The expanded relationship with LATAMIA allows BTV to continue to explore how our accelerator model resonates with the insurance community outside of the United States,” said Dan Keough, Holmes Murphy Chairman and CEO and co-CEO of BTV. “Additionally, it provides an avenue for technologies outside of the United States to build connections, advance those which have merit for our partners, and ultimately to propel innovation forward for the benefit of the insurance industry worldwide."
The LATAM Insurtech Accelerator will be based in the City of Miami, USA, recognized as a springboard for Latin American companies expansion internationally as well as a recent developing hub for technology in the USA thanks to the support of the City’s Mayor Francis X. Suarez.
In addition to teaming with BrokerTech Ventures, LATAMIA’s setup is possible thanks to the partnership of NetBrokrs Insurance Group, the only broker network focussed on developing business through insurtech capabilities; Multiplica, one of the largest and most important digital consulting firms in the Americas and Europe; and 4Yes Capital, a private Asian capital group enabling insurtech growth internationally. Together they aim at placing the Latin American Region, its insurtechs and LATAMIA as one of the world’s most influential digital development hubs for insurance.
